Now For Something Completely Different

Variety is the spice of life, but in the brewery business it is absolutely essential. The ever-expanding UK ale scene has seen to that, but providing variety is also a basic principle of business, and even if you are one of the biggest brewers in the north, you have to diversify, expand and offer something new or you get left behind. That’s not a position Ossett Brewery has ever taken up and we don’t intend to start now, so we have always strived to produce new flavours, adapt new techniques and, let’s be honest, give our taste buds a treat, by developing new beers and keeping the mark.. A Year of Celebration: announcing our 2018 Beer Festivals

Call us old fashioned, but as we go to considerable lengths to brew quality beer, we quite like people to drink it. With a pub estate now stretching to 25 establishments and a burgeoning retail trade to wholesale partners and direct deliveries, you’d think that would be enough, but no, we don’t just like to brew, sell and drink beer – yep, we like the odd drop ourselves too – we like to celebrate it as well. The concept of beer festivals is nothing new of course, but the real ale revolution has seen an insatiable thirst for the gathering of like-minded souls to raise a glass t.. Read more

Taking Ossett Brewery To The Next Level: 2018 The Year Of Expansion

There is a famous John Lennon quote that goes “life is what happens to you when you are busy making other plans”. It is perhaps a line that we could attribute to the growth of Ossett Brewery over the last few years. The organisation has expanded and diversified beyond recognition, but our humble headquarters in the market town of Ossett have remained more or less the same. While the capacity of the brewery has increased as demand for our core beers has grown, particularly in the last five years of the Real Ale Revolution, there comes a time when you have to look around and make a key decisio.. Something In The Air At Fernandes

We all like to raise a glass to celebrate an anniversary, and we don’t need much excuse, whether it’s marking a wedding milestone or five years since the cat first learned how to use the cat flap that you fitted many years previously. If there’s a significant date to be noted, we’ll iron a shirt and be straight there. So imagine if there were two anniversaries landing together at the same place, and that place was a pub combined with a microbrewery? You shouldn’t need a degree in Event Management to be able to arrange an appropriate celebration, and lo and behold we have al.. Read more

Spreading The Love of Beer with our September Beer Festival

For most people the festival season is seen as June to August; the summer months, or so we call them. You know the scene; endless sunny days, drinking, dancing, eating and sometimes sleeping outdoors, enjoying a sunset as the band plays on, etc etc. But at Ossett Brewery we like to be a bit different, and September is when it all kicks off for us.   The great benefit of beer festivals is that you don’t necessarily need the weather; just the people and the beer. Except that September usually provides pretty decent weather anyway, but let’s keep .. Read more

Always shaping the future: the history of Ossett Brewery

July 2017 sees the first steps taken in the latest expansion of Ossett Brewery. Ceiling panels are being lifted, tanks re-located and pipework re-directed. It is not the first time the organisation has shrewdly invested to pre-empt or catch up with demand, but this time a phased 18-month programme of development will leave the brewery in a strong position for the future. And given the relatively recent birth of the organisation, that the astonishing rise in popularity of real ale has been suitably served from the same humble area of land in the small market town of Ossett, goes to show how skilful manag..
