Shepherds Boy Green Hop Beer Festival

Thurs 25th-Sun 28th September. Featuring a unique range of 12 beers made with fresh green hops from this years harvest + a range of real ciders. On Thursday evening Matt Hall of Yorkshire Hops will speak about hops in general and particularly growing hops in Yorkshire.

Garforth Lions Beer Festival

The hugely successful annual Garforth Lions Beer Festival takes place on Saturday 16th August. With a selection of 15 cask ales including a good number from the Ossett family of Brewery's.

The Gaslight Restaurant

Friday 15th August see's the re-opening of the historic restaurant at the Kings Arms, Heath, Wakefield. Refurbished and re-named after the rare gas lighting that gives the restaurant in unique atmosphere. The A la Carte menu will focus on fresh, seasonal & local produce. ​

International Beer Challenge Recognise Yorkshire Blonde

For 18 years the International Beer Challenge has rewarded and promoted excellent beers. The whole rainbow of beer complexity enters the IBC, with entries received from no fewer than 30 countries. We are delighted that our bottled Yorkshire Blonde has won a bronze medal in the Golden Ales 4.1-5% category. Look out for the IBC Medal Logo appearing on bottles of Yorkshire Blonde in future.

Wakefield Golf Club Sponsorship

Our on going relationship with Wakefield Golf Club has been strengthened with our two year sponsorship of their Scratch Team. The picture below shows the team just before they got stuck into the Yorkshire Blonde in the 19th.

Rat Infestation At The Crown Posada, Newcastle

RAT INFESTATION AT THE CROWN POSADA, NEWCASTLE - FRI-SUN 1ST-3RD AUG Head Brewer Paul Spencer & Rat Brewer, Robin Moss, will bring a bit of Yorkshire to Tyneside on Yorkshire Day as they host a meet the brewer on Friday Night. The weekend will feature 10 Rat brews including a specially brewed American IPA 'Coffin Rat'.

Yorkshire Day August 2014

We're all stocked up with cask and bottled Yorkshire Blonde to meet the additional demand for Yorkshire Day. No finer way can we think of to celebrate Yorkshire Day than to 'slowly sample several millilitres'* of our easy drinking ale. * Due to recent government legislation we can no longer promote the drinking of gallons of Yorkshire Blonde in one session.  

Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival

Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival on Thursday-Sunday 7-10th August. Well worth making the effort to sample a huge range of local & world-wide foods whilst sampling locally brewed beers & ciders. Fernandes CAMRA Presentation

Leeds Camra will be presenting brewer Steve Hutchinson with the award for overall beer of the festival for his Chocolate Orange inspired 'Black Voodoo'. It was one of the first beers to sell out at the festival out of a total of 177 beers. At the same time Wakefield Branch members will present Steve with the belated bronze award for best mild at the Great British Beer Festival 2013. Sounds like a good excuse for a few beers at the Fernandes Brewery Tap from midday.

Ossett Brewery Open Day August 2014

The date has now been set for our annual fund raiser in aid of Forget Me Not Children's Hospice. This year we aim toraise over £5000for the charity whilst entertaining the local community. Six bands have waived their fees to perform on our stage. Two bars will serve our cask ales from just £2.50 a pint in addition to soft drinks, real cider and even lager & wine! Whilst kids entertainment, BBQ, Grand Raffle, Brewery Tours & locally made pies should keep all the family happy. Please note ALL proceeds from the Open Day go to the charity and Ossett Brewery do not make ANY money out .. Read more

Tramlines Festival at Sheffield Hop

July 2014 Seasonal Beers

This month sees the seventh of our 'World Cup of Hops' series. Each beer utilizes the same 4% abv pale malt base with a similar quantity of a single hop variety and the beer being names after that hop variety. The Armais hop originates from France and produces a moderate bitterness with floral & grassy characteristics. In addition to Aramis we have the long awaited return of Real Ale Revolution IPA (4.5% American style IPA), a single brew of Yorkshire Blonde Premium (4.5%) and American Pale (3.5% intensely aromatic  ale with a refreshing citrus character).

Leeds Hop Beer Festival

Leeds Hop will host a festival of Yorkshire Beers & Ciders as part of the Leeds Waterfront Festival. The free entry festival includes live music and runs from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June.

Duck and Drake Leeds

Members of our 'Ossett Beer Excellence' Club and good friends, The Duck & Drake, are rightly proud to have been voted Leeds Camra's Pub of the Season for Summer 2014. Congratulations to Andy and all the team.

June 2014 Seasonal Beers

Due to major work to increase capacity at the brewery we lose a few brewdays in June. This means we have a limited range of seasonal beers for the month: RIO DE JA BEER-O! - 4% dry and lager coloured ale.  Generous quantities of English and American hops produces a bitter and refreshing beer with further dry hopping during conditioning giving an intense citrus aroma. Rio de ja Beer-O! is also available to Enterprise Houses via Junes 'On the dray' feature. TOUR DE YORKSHIRE 3.8% - A classic pale golden Yorkshire style bitter.  Full bodied and very dry with a subtle spicyness.. Read more

Wakefield Festival Of Beer

Drinkers at the 2nd Wakefield Festival of Beer voted a couple of our beers in the top three. For the second year running Fernandes Black Voodoo came out top. In joint second place was Ilkley Mayan and Ossett Silver King.

Stoutastic

Our multi award winning stout has picked up another award. Treacle Stout won the best stout category at Elescar Beer Festival earlier this month. Our newest pub,The Fox in York, is now open.. Extensive refurb throughout. 9 Local hand pulled ales, real cider, large beer garden.

May 2014 Seasonal Beers

This month see's a varied selection of new brews and old favourites available: MAJESTIC MILD 3.8% - A velvety smooth dark mild brewed to celebrate Camra's Month of Mild. Chocolate and coffee flavours from a blend of five different malts are complemented by a delicate hop finish from English First Gold hops. JUNGA 4% - The fifth in our immensely popular series of single hop beers. Customers seem to love comparing and contrasting the different flavours and aromas from each of the beers based on the same extra pale malt base. Fenandes Black Voodoo

We've just being informed by Cleveland Camra that Black Voodoo won beer of the festival at their Saltburn Beer Festival. Thanks to everyone that drank and voted for our 'chocolate orange' beer.

Beer Duty

Following the chancellors welcome reduction in beer duty we are pleased to announce that we have reduced the list price of all our beers. The full duty reduction has been reflected in the list price.

Good Things Come In Threes

We're celebrating a trio of wins in recent beer competitions: BRADFORD BEER FESTIVAL - Voted Ossett's February seasonal beer, 'Dana', as joint best bitter. We reckon this months seasonal, 'Summit', is even better! LEEDS BEER FESTIVAL - We understand that Fernandes 'Black Voodoo' created a real buzz at the festival and nearly sold out on the first day. We're most proud that 'Black Voodoo' has been voted overall beer of the festival out of a total of 177 beers. We loook forward to the presentation at Leeds Hop on Sunday 13th April. March 2014 Seasonal Brews

We're very excited about our latest 'World Cup of Hops' brew. 'Summit' is the forth in our series of experimental single hop beers for 2014. Each beer utilizes the same 4% extra pale malt base with a similar quantity of the hop the beer is named after. Summit is an American hop which gives an amazingly powerful Grapefruit aroma with a lingering citrus finish. We expect both brews of Summit to sell out very quickly. February 2014 Seasonal Beers

This month see's the second in our 2014 'World Cup of Hops' series - with a rare Slovenian hop variety called 'Dana'. Once again this 4% brew utilises extra pale malt and the single hop variety to help drinkers diffrentiate between a variety of hops from around the globe. In addition we also have a single brew of 'Silver Shadow'. A lager coloured, dry, bitter & citrusy 3.9% session bitter. February will also see a brew of the ever popular extra pale 4.2% 'Snowdrop'. January 2014 Seasonal Beers

The first of our 2014 'World Cup of Hops' series has been very well received. Each of the series utilizes the same 4% abv pale malt base with a similar quantity of a single hop variety. In this case the Australian Galaxy Hop provides a fruity aroma with a high level of bitterness. In January we will also have Treacle Stout, Premium Yorkshire Blonde and Silver Shadow available.
