We have passed our SALSA Audit (Safe & Local Supplier Approval) and received our certificate which you can see by clicking here...it's truly a sight for sore eyes. Congratulations to Paul Spencer who is our Director of Brewing and to all of our Brewers for their hard work. It's a huge achievement!!
Ossett Brewery are proud and excited to announce the launch of their new branding. With the UK brewing industry more vibrant than it has ever been, it is increasingly important that we represent our great beers in the most effective way. Our aim is to improve perceptions of our brand and entice a new wave of beer drinkers without alienating our existing loyal customer base. To do this we have gone for a more contemporary image whilst not straying too far from our traditional roots as a British cask ale producer. BLACK BULL IN LIVERSEDGE CLOSES FOR MAJOR REFURBISHMENT Ossett Brewery’s first community pub, The Black Bull in Liversedge is temporarily closed for refurbishment and is set to re-open on Thursday 16th June. The major refurbishment work will upgrade the nearly 300 year old pub by tastefully enhancing the original features without losing its traditional charm. This traditional inn has served refreshments to both the local community and thirsty travellers for nearly three centuries. The iconic and awarding winning community pub, The Rat and Ratchet in Huddersfield gets another award under its belt. Serving the best range of cider in the area, The Rat and Ratchet scoops the award for Yorkshire Cider Pub of The Year 2016 from Huddersfield CAMRA (second year in a row!) Yorkshire based business furniture manufacturers Flexiform will be exhibiting some of their newest work at the Clerkenwell Design Week. Congratulations to The Hop Saltaire for scooping the award for Pub of the Year 2016 by Bradford CAMRA. Ossett Brewery has been awarded one of the first Food Safety and Quality Certificates to be accredited by SIBA (the Society of Independent Brewers). The SIBA FSQ was launched in late 2015 to provide retailers with an independently assessed quality management mark to help them identify high-quality brewers in a crowded and competitive market place. Our Head Brewer, Paul Spencer, was awarded the unique standard following a rigorous audit of our brewery and practices back in December. We always like experimenting with new flavours and hops so I hope you’ve enjoyed trying our new seasonal beers ranges throughout 2015. Looking ahead to 2016 we will be brewing some old favourite seasonal beers at Ossett, and continuing to experiment with many new beers from across our microbreweries as usual! Over the Summer 2015 cricket season we have been selling ‘Pyrah’ brewed especially to support Yorkshire County Cricketer, Rich Pyrah, in his benefit year. Ossett Brewery have donated 10p from each pint of ‘Pyrah’ sold to Richard and his benefit year charities; Yorkshire Cancer Research, Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal and The PCA Benevolent Fund. The total raised was £3,315! MD Mike Inman presented Richard with a cheque for the amount over a pint at the brewery...

Our recently launched range of #RatCrafted keg beers caused quite a stir at the SIBA North Keg Beer Competition held at the Canal House, Nottingham on 23rd July. We’re chuffed that our characteristically hazy German style Wheat Beer ‘Rattus Rattus’ won the bronze medal in the Speciality Beer category and even more chuffed that our fantastically named 7.4% Russian Imperial Stout ‘Ratsputin’ won the gold medal in the Premium Strong Beer Category, beating Elland’s 1872 Porter into second place. Big congratulations to our Pub Company Area Manager, Paul Jackson, on his recent fundraising challenge Pedal for Parkinson’s. Paul completed the gruelling 62 mile bike ride in a fantastic time of 4 hours 44mins – well done Paul! It’s safe to say he definitely deserves a rest, in his post ride review he said ‘If I see another hill it would be to soon’. Thank you for all donations to this fantastic charity.
