Our recently launched range of #RatCrafted keg beers caused quite a stir at the SIBA North Keg Beer Competition held at the Canal House, Nottingham on 23rd July. We’re chuffed that our characteristically hazy German style Wheat Beer ‘Rattus Rattus’ won the bronze medal in the Speciality Beer category and even more chuffed that our fantastically named 7.4% Russian Imperial Stout ‘Ratsputin’ won the gold medal in the Premium Strong Beer Category, beating Elland’s 1872 Porter into second place.

The winners of the eight category’s were then reassessed to determine the Overall Keg of the Competition winners. Our near neighbours ‘Revolutions Brewery’ from Castleford captured the gold with their ‘Severina Vienna lager’ with the Rat Brewery’s ‘Ratsputin’ taking the overall silver medal. To win three medals is a massive achievement for our Head Brewer Paul & Rat Brewer Robin after only recently installing the equipment to keg our beers. For the keg competition SIBA split Britain into two with the winners of the North and South competitions going forward to the National Final at SIBA BeerX in Sheffield in March 2016.

We’re now offering a range of #RatCrafted beers, including the massively hopped ‘Rat Against the Machine’ in 30 litre disposable doliums. We also working on a standalone website for the Rat Brewery that will soon be launched and provide more in depth detail on both cask and keg beers available from the Rat Brewery.
