BUTTERLEY

YORKSHIRE BITTER

A traditional, easy drinking Yorkshire Bitter, made from all British ingredients. Pale copper in colour, this beer initially has sweet malt and honey on the palate, followed by a moderately bitter finish. The delicate hop aromas can be described as floral and spicy.

PALE SESSION ALE

This beer pays homage to our stunning Yorkshire heartland, the inspiration behind everything we brew. This pale ale is full-bodied, well-rounded and slightly sweet on the palate. A generous addition of Mount Hood hops late in the boil result in a delicate fruity aroma.

KING

AMERICAN PALE ALE

One of the original Ossett core beers from 1998 and SIBA national champion. This regal beer continues to be a timeless classic. A simple combination of UK grown pale malt and American Cascade and Chinook hops result in a crisp, dry and refreshing pale ale with aromas of citrus fruit and balanced bitterness. This beer is also gluten free.

Latin for ‘forever upwards’ and signified by the soaring Yorkshire Red Kite. Three times SIBA national champion and the strongest beer in our core range. 

A classic pale ale, brewed from British pale malt and US Cascade hops. Smooth, fruity and full-bodied, with a deceptive bitterness to complement its alcohol strength. Refreshing citrus hop aromas complete the sensory pleasure.

PARADOX

Barrel Aged Apricot White Stout

White Stouts are relatively pale beers that exhibit many of the flavour characteristics of stouts but without the typical dark colour.

This example was brewed from pale, crystal and wheat malts as well as coffee beans and cacao nibs to produce a potent golden ale with notes of chocolate and coffee. The resulting beer was then matured for one year in bourbon casks, with the addition of apricots and peaches to enhance the flavour and provide complexity. In common with darker stouts, bitterness is moderate, and there is little hop aroma.

Hoppy Pale Ale

Godiva is a UK hop from the Charles Faram development program, and it is named because it has few leaves on the bine and so looks naked. It brings moderate bitterness, but fairly intense aromas of spice, white grape, gooseberry and tangerine.

Vanilla Irish Stout

Toasting 25 successful years with a series of innovative special cask ales to celebrate our birthday.

A traditionally dry and fairly bitter Irish stout, brewed to session strength from a combination of pale and roasted malts, but with the addition of vanilla to give a modern twist. Deep brown to black in colour and with a creamy off-white head, flavours are of roasted malts and coffee, while aromas are of vanilla and chocolate.

DRAGON SMOKE

IPA

A premium strength European IPA brewed from pale, wheat and a small quantity of German beech-smoked malt. The smoked malt imparts a subtle but distinctive aroma, which does not overpower the hops. Bitterness is moderate, but generous quantities of Styrian Dragon hops added at three stages of the brewing process and then as a dry hop result in a particularly aromatic IPA with citrus, herbal and tropical fruit characteristics to the fore.

HALLERTAU BLANC

Hoppy Pale Ale

Released in 2012, Hallertau Blanc is a German hop variety bred from Cascade to match American beer styles. The flavour profile is said to be fruity, with wine-like qualities of gooseberry and lemongrass, similar to that of Sauvignon Blanc.

CLOCKWORK ORANGE

Premium Golden Ale

A premium golden ale brewed from pale, Munich and cara malts to give malty and ready flavours. Bitterness is moderately high, but Mandarina Bavaria and Galaxy added as a late hop in the whirlpool, along with a generous quantity of sweet orange peel results in pronounced orange and tropical fruit flavours. The hop aroma is further enhanced by a moderate post-fermentation addition of Amarillo to yield sweet orange and tangerine characteristics.

IT'S RAINING PIES

Antipodean Golden Ale

A premium strength Antipodean Golden Ale brewed from pale, wheat and cara malts to give malty and bready flavours. Bitterness is moderate, but generous quantities of Nelson Sauvin and Nectaron from New Zealand and Australian Galaxy added as a late hop in the whirlpool result in citrus and tropical fruit aromas, with pineapple, peach and passionfruit being particularly to the fore.

This beer is brewed in support of Men’s Pie Club, a charity that’s all about tackling social isolation and improving mental health. It’s for guys who live alone, or feel alone, or just need an excuse to get out more. A donation will be made to the organisation for each cask purchased.

Summer Ale

A light, refreshing Summer Ale, brewed from European ingredients in the style of a German helles lager, but served cask conditioned as an easy drinking thirst-quencher. Premium German lager malt creates bread and honey flavours, while hops from Slovenia, France, Germany and Poland result in a beer low in bitterness but with herbal, spicy and floral aromas. Cold fermentation with German lager yeast followed by a cold maturation period enhance the malty characteristics.

Session Pale

Toasting 25 successful years with a series of innovative special cask ales to celebrate our birthday.

Low on alcohol, but full of flavour, this is a pale and refreshing session beer. Pale and Vienna malts provide plenty of body, while Citra and Harlequin hops added during the boil, to the hopback and as a dry hop provide plenty of citrus and tropical fruit aromas.

Premium Golden Ale

Toasting 25 successful years with a series of innovative special cask ales to celebrate our birthday.

A stronger, dry-hopped, hazy and mutated White Rat, with all of the aroma and none of the bitterness. This is basically the standard White Rat recipe, but brewed a little stronger and with all of the hops added as a post-fermentation dry hop rather than during the boil. This results in a beer with very low bitterness, but intense citrus fruit aroma. Served hazy and suitable for vegans.

Premium Golden Ale

Toasting 25 successful years with a series of innovative special cask ales to celebrate our birthday.

First brewed in the Summer of 1998, Dazzler was one of the very first Ossett beers. Twenty five years later, this is an updated version of an old favourite, but with more hops. Lots more hops! Golden Promise malt creates a premium golden pale ale with bready and biscuity flavours. WGV (Whitbread Golding Variety) hops grown in Kent are added at three stages of the brewing process to produce the floral and herbal aromas characteristic of the best English ales.

Showcasing the new UK-grown hop variety Mystic™ from the Charles Faram Hop Development Programme, this is a hazy, unfined IPA with low bitterness and intense floral hop aromas. Mystic™ are added during the brewing process both as a late hop and in the whirlpool, and then again as a double dry hop during fermentation to give aromas of orange, blueberry and spice. The floral and spicy characteristics are further augmented by the addition of rose petals, cardamon and coriander. Vegan friendly.

A crystal-clear, crisp and golden session pale in the “West Coast” style. Pale and cara malts provide a biscuity character with a rounded bitterness. Hazy French Bitter

A pale and hazy bitter, similar to that brewed in the Alsace hop-growing region of France around Strasbourg. A high percentage of wheat in the grist results in a smooth bready flavour on the palate, while generous hopping with French Brewers Gold and Strisselspalt creates a fairly bitter and spicy beer with aromas of flowers and mown grass. Vegan friendly.
