Congratulations to Black Bull Liversedge

Congratulations to The Black Bull Liversedge on featuring in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide for a whopping 10 consecutive years. The Heavy Woollen Branch of CAMRA attended the busy community pub on Tuesday evening to present the award to landlady, Linda Rowley. This award is only issued to pubs that year on year produce consistency of excellence in their serving and keeping of Real Ale. The Black Bull was the first pub to be opened by Ossett Brewery back in May 2003. Since then the company has successfully expanded to 24 sites around Yorkshire. Bloke From Hull Reports on #IWCBD 2015

Following a successful first appearance in 2014, the International Women’s Collaborative Brew Day returned on International Women’s Day, Sunday 8th March 2015 with over 80 participants from 11 countries. All the female brewers who joined this year brewed Unite Red Ale (4.6% ABV), the recipe of which was formulated by event Founder and Brewster Sophie de Ronde of Muntons Malt. Co-ordination of all of the brewers and teams was again headed by Denise Ratfield of Pink Boots Society. Duty Cut – Good News!

In this year’s budget the chancellor announced an unprecedented third consecutive cut in duty. Cutting beer duty supports one of Britain’s major manufacturing industries and gives increased confidence to small brewers to invest in equipment, staff and pubs. As usual we will adjust our list price to reflect the cut in duty on all our draught brands. Following our annual review of costs in January we decided not to increase our prices as usual in February.
